Woke up this morning to the see the horrorfying scenes on TV. Is there ever going to be an end to this?

Judging by the mood of the people in India this time, the government cannot talk tough and then do nothing, as has been the case every other time. This time it is different. 60 hours or live horrendous TV has taken its toll on Indians. With general elections around the corner, people are going to speak and the government knows what they are going to say.

As an American, I have watched for years and feared that Kashmir would bring India and Pakistan to another war. I can foresee nothing but devestation coming from that for both countries, and no resolution to the problem. I hope it doesn't come to that.

I doubt there will be a war, At least not yet. In my opinion, there is no use going to war with Pakistan. Pakistan is a failed state. It has no control over the tribal regions where Osama and gang are supposedly hiding and from where they are launching attacks on western forces across the border in Afghanistan. The Pakistan government has no control over its intelligence agency, who seems to do whatever it likes in conjunction with the armed forces. The government has little or no control over its own armed forces. Going to war with a failed country like that wil not solve the terror problem.
India and the world, especially the US, needs to squeeze Pakistan into somehow shutting down the terror camps and jihadi factories on its soil, either on its own or by external help. I don't think the Pakistan government has the means to do this themselves, although it may sincerely have the will.
I believe the west now understands that all it takes is one maniac to walk into a public place and kill scores of people using a AK47 and a few bullets. Pakistan is the factory for such maniacs. We caught one alive the other day and he is telling his interrogtors that he did the right thing.
